Bea's father Brian was a vet for horses that committed suicide when she was just three years old. However, she did not learn the cause for her father's death until she was 13 years old. The stage name Bea was in tribute to her father. Bea was the author of an opinion piece for The Guardian, published in 2017 about her experiences dealing with suicide. Bea, along with her sister Sinead and her sister Sinead, were brought up with Helen Moloney (n e Moloney) an ex-jockey and teacher at a secondary-school. The family was obsessed with horses and racing. Bea was a guide at her family's involvement at the Irish National Stud in her young years. But she was aware that it wasn't what she wanted to pursue for a living and that she was more interested in doing.
